The Smith Family's Government House Open Day and Art Exhibition

Over 12,000 people enjoyed a day of historical exploration, unique entertainment and enriching culture at The Smith Family Government House Open Day and Art Exhibition on Sunday 14 March 2010.

Members of the public were given the rare opportunity to roam the magnificent 54 hectare gardens, glimpse inside the historic House and admire local artwork on display.

Guests were invited to picnic on the majestic lawns and enjoy an eclectic line-up of local performers including the National Capital Orchestra and Questacon, while the kids enjoyed everything from singing and storytelling, to face painting and pony rides! A range of arts and crafts were also available to buy, including pottery, mosaics and garden ornaments.

Food and beverage stalls, offering the finest local produce, were available on the day.

Proceeds from the event and a percentage of artwork sold will go towards The Smith Family's learning and education programs for financially disadvantaged children within the ACT and across Australia.

With thanks to Their Excellencies Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE for kindly donating their residence for our fundraising event.

We are grateful to all volunteers from VIEW Clubs of Australia for their support.
