New Chairman Appointed to The Smith Family Board

Effective from 28 November 2019, The Smith Family’s Chairman, Christine Bartlett is stepping down from the Board after 12 years of service as a non executive Director, and three and a half years as Chairman of Australia’s leading children’s education charity.
Nicholas Moore has been appointed to the Board and will take up the role of Chairman following the organisation’s Annual General Meeting on 28 November 2019.
Ms Bartlett said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on The Smith Family’s Board. The work that we do for children in need is important and powerful and I have been immensely proud to be part of this organisation. I am also delighted to hand over as Chairman to Nicholas Moore who will bring new energy to the role.”
The Smith Family CEO, Dr Lisa O’Brien said: “During Christine’s time as Chairman we have set our current Five-Year Strategy and embarked on a period of significant growth in line with our strategic ambition.”
“The Board joins me in thanking Christine for her 12 years of service as a non executive Director and most recently as Chairman, and for her dedicated and committed service to our organisation over that time.”
Nicholas Moore is the former Chief Executive Officer of Macquarie Group Limited. He retired after 33 years at Macquarie, 10 years of which were as CEO.
Currently he is Chairman of Screen Australia, the Sydney Opera House Trust, The Centre for Independent Studies, Willow Technology Corporation, and a Member (and former Chair) of the University of NSW Business School Advisory Council. Formerly, Mr Moore was Chair of PCYC New South Wales for 13 years.
Mr Moore said: “I’m delighted to take over as Chairman of The Smith Family, an organisation that has been part of the fabric of the Australian community for almost one hundred years. I look forward to being involved in the next evolution of this iconic charity and supporting its work with more than 168,000 children and young people in need.”
Dr O’Brien said: “The Smith Family warmly welcomes Nicholas Moore as incoming Chairman and we look forward to working with him on the next phase of our organisation’s journey.”
