Fee-Free TAFE

Fee-Free TAFE is a great way to learn new skills without paying tuition fees. It’s a program run by the Australian Government that helps people train, retrain or upskill for jobs that are needed right now.

What is TAFE?

TAFE stands for Technical and Further Education. It offers practical courses that teach you real-world skills. These courses can help you get a job, change careers, or improve your current skills.

What can you study?

There are hundreds of free courses available. Some areas include:

  • Health and care 
  • Construction
  • Clean energy
  • Technology and digital
  • Early childhood education

     

You can study for a certificate, diploma, or short course.

Who can apply?

Fee-Free TAFE may be open to:

  • First Nations Australians  
  • Young people (17–24 years old)
  • Women (25–54 years old)
  • People living with a disability
  • Unpaid carers
  • People who are out of work or getting income support
  • And more!

Support while you study

TAFE offers lots of support to help you succeed:

  • Language help if English isn’t your first language 

  • Counselling for personal or study challenges 
  • Disability support for students with health conditions 
  • Libraries and study groups to support your learning
  • Apprenticeships and mentoring to help you learn on the job
