Holdfast Evening VIEW Club

About

Holdfast Evening VIEW Club was formed in 2008.

Currently, our Club  proudly sponsors eleven Smith Family Learning for Life students.  Holdfast Evening celebrated their 15th Birthday last October, and we have 50 Members who meet monthly for Dinner, with a guest speaker.

We supported one of these students for ten years from Primary School through to University Graduation.  Four of our Members correspond with our students, and arrange E-vouchers for birthday's and Christmas.  We also support two students on Digital Learning Resources Packages.

We fund our students through annual events, monthly raffles and quarterly trading tables.  Our annual fashion parade is an important fundraiser each year.  We also have fun and fellowship at coffee mornings and outings, and visit other VIEW Club functions, meeting new friends.

We are always open to new members, and welcome visitors so please get in touch today and come and see what it's all about.

Sixteenth Birthday Celebrations in October 2024

Our October Birthday was a stunning success. The lime theme made for a colourful room of table decorations, and our outfits too!  Many visitors attended from other VIEW Clubs and we enjoyed fine dining and a celebratory cake.

Guest Speaker October 2024

Local Children's Author the renowned Mem Fox (shown in photo) took us back to younger days reading to us from her fabulous books including Possum Magic, and imploring us to read to children from birth onwards, for at least 10 minutes a day.

We found it a lovely experience to be read to again!

Fabulous Fund Raising Stalls in October 2024

Members contributed donations for fabulous stalls at our Birthday.

Designer glass jewellery was donated by its creator, joining other jewellery treasures, while we had a stall for Chocoholics and a stall for Wine buffs too. All resulted in a significant profit increase this Birthday, towards funding our 11 Students.

Baby Photos on Display in 2024

Our Delegate Gail collected all our baby images, and compiled them into table groupings, and a presentation for our Dinner.

We sat at the table with our image, and had to guess the baby images of all sitting at the table. Lots of fun and a small fundraiser too. What VIEW cuties we are!

Fabrics of War Quilt Exhibition in 2024

These quilts were made from the blended wool of military uniforms by men in the field of war, or on returning home, from 1760 onward. Annette Gero has collected the quilts. We were amazed at their intricacy.

International Women's Day 2024

Holdfast Evening Members strongly supported the International Women's Day event that was hosted by Marion VIEW Club.

We were very proud that the VIEW performing duo who can be seen in the accompanying photo, Paul and Paul, from the 2022 Adelaide VIEW Convention, were able to perform the VIEW song they had written during Covid times, for the 100 plus View members and friends present, as well as other entertaining acts.  Paul M's Mother Elaine,  and Paul S's Wife,  Athalie  were especially proud!

february 2024 outing

Adelaide Hills Gardens Outing in February 2024

Stunning cool Hills gardens at Stirling, courtesy of the Zeitz and Metzger families, were enjoyed by many members, also a delicious morning coffee surrounded by the garden. The trees were planted 40 years ago to create a suitable canopy for the 80 tree ferns, huge hydrangea blooms, fuchsias and bromeliads, to name a few, and watered by a spring and small creek meandering through the properties.  A delicious lunch at Stirling Hotel completed our lovely outing.

Our Club held a major fundraiser, when we booked a whole cinema at Event Cinemas Glenelg, for a Movie Afternoon.  Nearly 100 Members, friends and family enjoyed the day.  We were thrilled to raise over $1,500 from raffles and movie tickets which will go towards funding our eleven students.  Many thanks must go to our wonderful Program Officers, Athalie and Marg.  A fabulous day was enjoyed by all,
