Meet Our 2026 Committee

Our first meeting for 2026 was our AGM with the election of our new committee. Our committee line up has remained the same with the exception of Deepinda, a new member who was elected as Treasurer.

Our lunch meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Southern Cross Club, Woden at 11.30am for 12 noon. The cost is $38 for a two course lunch. Each month we have a very well stocked Trading Table and a raffle with lots of great prizes. At our next meeting on the 24th February, Melissa Freasier will be our guest speaker who will talk about Decluttering and Downsizing. If you would like to come along as a guest to see what fun we have helping to raise funds for The Smith Family's Learning for Life programme, please contact Lesley by phone or text on 0419 697 782 by Wednesday, 18th February.

Celebrating 56th Birthday in September

The Top of the Cross was rocking as our Club celebrated its 56th Birthday. Dressed appropriately, lots of members were encouraged onto the dance floor by fantastic Rock and Roll music provided by Two 4 Tea, a local duo.

Our beautiful cake was once again made by Monica and was cut by our two oldest members, Hildegard and Joan. We were joined by seventeen guests, seven of whom came from Lake George VIEW Club.

Indonesian Embassy Visit

Sixteen members and three partners, pictured, had a lovely and informative visit to the Indonesian Embassy in August. We learned some of the history and geography of the country and were treated to a traditional puppet show.

We also saw the extensive array of musical instruments in the pavilion. These are used for practice by students from around Canberra, and for special ceremonies and celebrations.

We later had a lovely lunch at Snappers by the lake.

Christmas in July Celebration 2026 part 1

Woden VIEW Club members celebrated Christmas in July. In the spirit of Christmas giving, we thought it would be nice to help Kids in Care with some much needed baby supplies. Our ever generous members gave a huge amount of lovely presents which were greatly appreciated.

The next meeting will be held at the Canberra Southern Cross Club Woden on Tuesday 25th August at 11.30am for 12 noon. The cost is $38.00 per head for a two-course lunch. This month we are having a silent auction of “Gourmet Food”. Our last auction was great fun and raised lots of money for our L4L programme.

Guests are welcome, but please advise Lesley of your attendance on 0412 664 195 by 5.30 pm Wednesday 19th August.

Christmas in July Celebration 2026 part 2

Our tables were decorated to reflect the spirit and many ladies added to the fun of the day by dressing appropriately.

Club's 2026 June Meeting
