Maryborough VIEW Club
About
Currently, the Club sponsors six Smith Family Learning for Life students and is actively involved in fundraising activities to raise donations for The Smith Family programs.
Maryborough VIEW Club held its inaugural meeting on 27th November 2020 and currently has 35 Members, which includes 3 new Members. We are very excited that we have managed to raise enough funds to sponsor six students and to help provide funds for older students to have internet access, an essential in today’s educational setting. There are over 100 students being sponsored by the Smith Family on the Fraser Coast. We are always looking for women to join us in supporting The Smith Family and we’d encourage anyone interested to get in touch and come along to our next meeting to learn more about VIEW.
At each meeting we have raffles and a trading table, which are our main source of fund raising. There are guest speakers at every other meeting who enrich members with the knowledge of other organisations and individuals and the work they do. We also hold regular social outings during which some fund raising is done. The club is trying to find the means to set up a Smith Family Office in Maryborough so we can have a homework centre and volunteer tutors to help with the students' learning needs. Staff from the Smith Family also help parents to understand the demands of schooling today and coach them in ways to help their children learn more easily.
We are always open to new members, so please get in touch today and come and see what it's all about.

Meet Our 2026 Committee
Our Club held a successful Annual General Meeting in February, and In her report, President Jenni took time to thank members by saying -
We achieved a lot together — not because things magically sorted themselves out (if only!), but because each of you showed up, pitched in, and kept things moving with dedication and good humour. It’s been a real team effort, and I’m genuinely proud of what we’ve accomplished… even if some days felt like organised chaos with a smile.
Our new committee for 2026 is (Left to Right) Dawn (Program Officer), Jill (Assistant Secretary), Jenni (President / Publicity Officer), Gale (Secretary / Publicity Officer), Lorraine (Program Officer), Lesley (Program Officer) & Ellie (Delegate) and in the front our QB02 Zone Councillor, Rhonda.
Absent from the photo is Ann (Treasurer) and Carmel (Assistant Treasurer).
Thank you to our outgoing committee who led our club through another exciting and successful year.
International Women's Day 2026 Celebrations
Our Club held its, belated, International Women's Day luncheon meeting on Friday 13th March and we welcomed our very special guest speaker, Dr Toun Adebanjo, who gave a very interesting talk for our members - thank you so much Dr Toun Adebanjo.
Our luncheon tables were decked out in purple, green and white, the colours of International Women's Day and there was lots of laughter, chatting and smiling happy faces. Our President gave a very moving report, not only celebrating extraordinary women who are trail blazers, leaders and award winners, but especially the extraordinary everyday strength of everyday women.
We welcomed 2 new members to our group and one of our newest members was presented with her club name badge - congratulations and 'officially' welcome to our club. Also, 3 of our members were presented with their gift as members of the month.
February 2026 Outing
Our club holds a social morning / outing once a month for our members and for February, it was a lovely morning tea at the Maryborough Services Club where the Members enjoyed lots of chatter, laughter and also getting to know each other better in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
