Adelaide Pioneer VIEW Club
About
The Club is proudly named, as it is S.A.'s first VIEW Club, founded 25 years ago in 1999. It celebrated its 25th Birthday in 2024. The Club sponsors three Primary Learning for Life Students this year.
We are especially proud of sponsoring a 4th Year Tertiary Student through to Graduation in Nursing in 2024, along with two Students to Year 12. We are very proud of their achievements. In 2024, we held a very successful Movie Afternoon Fundraiser with two other VIEW Clubs, and have started 2025 actively as you will read below.

Meet Our 2025 Support Team
Our Club operates with a Support Team of 5 Members who administer the Club, whilst most Members help out in many supporting roles too.
Team Members are PNVP Velda, Jan C, Rosemary S, PNC Jan Mc and PNC Eila.

Celebrating 26th Birthday
Our Club had 29 Visitors joining us for our Birthday, and as a small Club, we were delighted! Visitors were encouraged to tell their friends about the Club, using a Promo distributed to everyone.
Animals was our theme, and so they attended, in the form of two Rescue Dogs, Ike and Rosco, and their Trainers, Amelia and Tara from Greyhounds as Pets (GAP). We learned that rescue greyhounds make great pets for older folk and as can be seen by the accompanying photo PNC Eila was kept very busy, looking after the cheeky Rosco!

Recognising Pamela's Contribution to VIEW
Bernie presented Member Pamela L with her 20 year pin, and wished the Club well for their Birthday. Zone Councillor Barb read the birthday mail.

Honouring Lorraine
Past Zone Councillor Jan Mc gave a presentation honouring Past National Councillor Lorraine Baker’s first years as a VIEW Member of Broken Hill, and then Adelaide Pioneer VIEW as an Inaugural Member, and later S.A.’s first Zone Councillor.
Lorraine who can be seen in the photo, celebrates 30 years as a Member of VIEW this year. Lorraine wore the same outfit she had worn to our Inaugural 26 years ago!

Celebrating Our Birthday
Cupcakes decorated with greyhounds and cats were enjoyed for dessert, followed by dog quizzes, and even massages by Gwenda for some lucky ladies like Dany and Barbara. Many raffle prizes were won by our Visitors too.

International Women's Day 2025 for SA 02
Club Members enjoyed our Speaker at one of five S.A. IWD Events this year. RFDS Pilot and Trainer Heather Ford is certainly doing her best to Accelerate Action for more women pilots in Australia.

Welcome New Member MP Cressida
We were delighted to present a VIEW badge to Cressida O’Hanlon MP, Member for Dunstan, in the S.A. Parliament.

Tour of Parliament House
Members were delighted to be offered Morning Tea and a Tour of Parliament House by our new VIEW Member, Cressida. We admired the treasures on display, and enjoyed taking our seats in the House of Assembly.
MP Cressida did a selfie of us all with the bust of Hon Thomas Playford.

Making A Difference at Christmas 2024
At our December Breakup Lunch, we were delighted to present Treasurer Jan, with her Making a Difference Award. Jan has been a Club Member for nearly all of our 25 years, and a Committee Member too, with the last 7 years as Treasurer.
The Support Team nominated Jan for her assistance to the Team this year in addition to long standing service. Congratulations to Jan.

Combined Clubs 2024 Movie Fundraiser
In late October 2024, our Club combined with Unley and Adelaide City Evening to hold a viewing of the new release movie, Lee, starring Kate Winslet. Over 300 attended The Regal Theatre and the afternoon proved an excellent fundraiser for our sponsored Students.
Accompanying group of photos shows Members of The Vines Evening Club who supported us; VIEW street spruiker Rosemary; and raffle ticket seller Eila from Adelaide Pioneer VIEW Club.

October 2024 In The Community
In October 2024, Members held a VIEW Promotional Stall at the very well attended Senior's Workshop organised by Member for Dunstan, Cressida O'Hanlon MP. We are very proud that MP Cressida is also a new Member of our VIEW Club.

Winter Warmers 2024 in Adelaide
Winter is not enticing for outings so Members made some entertainment and fun for ourselves!
PNVP Velda chaired a Winter Warmers Luncheon where the monthly colour code just happened to be tartan. Out came our scarves, Clan or Port Power, our hoodies and puffer jackets to share.

Craft Winter Warmers 2024 in Adelaide
The winter crafts on display tied in with our Guest Speaker Jeanne Thornton from Embroiderer's Guild of S.A. What awe we had for the crafts displayed, including the cat quilt made by Member Rosemary for her granddaughter,

Original Banner on Show
We are very proud to have our original VIEW Banner. Leading up to our Inaugurals, VIEW Clubs used to make beautiful banners. These were tirelessly worked upon by the new Members, from materials they could source. The design was appropriate to the Club, and so our banner as seen in the photo has significant landmarks in Adelaide, being the only VIEW Club at that time in this city.
We are honoured that the creator of this banner and Inaugural Member, Rosemary is able to feature in the display with the banner which she principally worked on, with some help. The former VIEW badge is shown, along with Colonel Light overseeing his City, The Cathedral, City Hall, and the Torrens River green space.

First Club formed in South Australia
We are proud to be Adelaide’s first VIEW Club, and hence our name, Adelaide Pioneer VIEW Club. The late Jacqui Marks from Queensland instigated the formation of Adelaide Pioneer VIEW Club and was its Inaugural President in 1999, and we were to be the forerunners of 19 current VIEW Clubs (plus Adelaide East VIEW Club in development), being established in S.A.
In the first ten years of our Club’s formation, 11 other VIEW Clubs were formed in S.A. by 2009. Members of our Club often moved to assist the establishment of these new Clubs, like Tea Tree Gully and Marion VIEW Club.
2000, Adelaide West VIEW and TeeTree Gully VIEW Clubs were inaugurated The late Maxine Turnbull, a N.C. in Victoria was responsible for this early development, with Lorraine Baker assisting her, here in Adelaide.
2002 Inauguration of Marion VIEW Club and Lorraine became our first Z.C. for S.A.
2003 Inauguration of Victor Harbor and Gawler VIEW Clubs, with assistance from Margaret, a N.C. from Victoria.
2004 Inauguration of Adelaide City Evening VIEW Club.
2005 First S.A. Development Team was established with PNVP Heather coordinating. Inauguration of Adelaide Hills VIEW Club.
2006 Inauguration of Southern Vales VIEW Club.
2007 Inauguration of Blackwood Hills VIEW Club.
2008 Inauguration of our second evening Club, Holdfast Evening VIEW Club, with Helen as the Development Team Coordinator.
2009 Sunraysia VIEW Club was inaugurated under S.A. VIEW leadership.
What an amazing development in S.A. in ten years!
Adelaide Pioneer VIEW Club led the charge, and remains our significantly important S.A. VIEW Club.
