Tonsley VIEW Club

About

Tonsley VIEW Club was formed in 2021.

Our Club has grown quickly to approximately 72 Members and we sponsor 17 students through The Smith Family Learning for Life programs. Seven of our Students are in the Seniors Years which our Club requests to sponsor, currently.  Students range in age from 9 years to 18 years.

We have excellent fundraisers to support our Students and also purchase Digital Resource Learning Packages Fundraisers include Fashion Parades, Quiz Afternoons, extremely successful trading tables and fashion recycling.  In 2025, we raised $25,578 for The Smith Family. Our first Fundraising was in January 2026 where some Members acted as Traffic Marshalls for the Tour Down Under. This was followed by a very successful Fashion Parade in May

We hold coffee mornings and social outings, like bus tours or river cruises, walks, and visits to attractions in Adelaide and environs. We always welcome visitors to our monthly luncheons with guest speakers, so please get in touch with our President Mary, and come and enjoy one of our monthly luncheons.

Fashion Parade Fundraiser in May 2026

Our May Fashion Parade was sold out with 150 VIEW members and friends attending. Four of our Members including Penny and Jenny (both pictured), modelled for Jaydees Fashion, and all garments were available for sale after the Parade.

Tonsley Members donated generously to provide numerous raffle prizes, and items for a silent auction, a plant stall, a baking stall and silk flower creations.

Accompanying photos show Left  Jenny and Centre Penny; our lovely models.  Top right is fashion parade coordinator Chris at the Plant Stall; and Bottom Right is visitor Elaine signing up for the Silent Auction.

March 2026 Murray River Cruise

Our Program Officer Jen organized a day tour to Murray Bridge by minibus, to board the Paddle boat/Steamer ‘Captain Proud’ for a luncheon cruise along the Murray River.

We certainly enjoyed the lunch, river views and wildlife, and also a coffee stop at Beerenberg Farm at Hahndorf, to buy fresh picked strawberries and condiments on our way home.

January 2026 Tour Down Under

For the third year, our Members and Partners have volunteered to work as Traffic marshalls, at the fabulous Tour Down Under, allowing the Peloton of international riders to pass safely.

For this, we raise money for The Smith Family through our VIEW Club.  Many thanks to Coordinators Deb S.S. and Sharlene (TDU), for organising all our marshalling points.

Accompanying photos: Jenny stops traffic in the rolling Adelaide Hills for the peloton, and  Chris meets one of the TDU mascots

February 2026 Outing

In February, we had our first outing for 2026 to Port Noarlunga, where we enjoyed a walk on the new Cliff Walk, coffee at The Coffee Factory, a pizza lunch or did some retail therapy, whatever we fancied.

A good balance of exercise, chat and delicious treats!
