Geelong Day VIEW Club
About
Currently, the Club sponsors sixteen Smith Family Learning for Life students and is actively involved in fundraising activities to raise donations for The Smith Family programs.
Our Club holds a lunch meeting each month with a guest speaker at each meeting, and we also have a monthly coffee morning held at various venues in the Geelong area. Many of our members participate in a Garden Group and Book Group, and other get-togethers and social outings are arranged on a regular basis. Our fundraising activities include sausage sizzles, craft stalls, plant sales and gift wrapping.
We welcome new members, so if you'd like to make a difference to the lives of Australian children, make new connections and new friendships, please get in touch and come along to one of our lunch meetings or coffee mornings to start your love affair with VIEW.

18th Birthday Celebrations
A Fabulous 18th Birthday Celebration
We celebrated with a theme of 18 and Fabulous and colours of pink, orange and black, which provided a cheerful atmosphere before the festivities had even begun.
The Fabulousness was non-stop, with pink and orange table decorations, a brilliant raffle, a historical photo board and a colourful and scrumptious birthday cake. We were fortunate to have the Club's inaugural President, to join the current President in cutting the cake.
Our guest speakers, representing Sustainable Housing for Older Women Inc. (Bellarine), provided sobering but optimistic information about homelessness for older women living in the Geelong area.
We're now looking forward to another exceptional year for our Club.
Mother's Day Cake Stall in 2026
Mothers' Day Cake Stall - May
What a wonderful success this year's Mothers' Day Cake Stall at Bunnings was; with a row of smiling VIEW Clubbers, purple aprons, and tables groaning with sausage rolls, sweet slices, and everything yummy in between, the day was surely set to be a triumph.
Although the sales started slowly, by mid-morning word had spread and the crowds gathered. Some took those prettily wrapped goodies home to share with friends or family while others chose to simply munch their way around Bunnings.
A stunning total of just over $1,000 was raised to go towards our Learning for Life sponsorships
At "Makers and Growers" Market
The Geelong Day VIEW Club held a stall at the Geelong Rotary Club’s “Makers and Growers” Market on Sunday 7th December 2025, on the Geelong foreshore.
It was our 4th year as stall holders and we sold homemade jams, cakes and biscuits, homemade Christmas decorations, library bags and other sewing items plus home grown plants. It is always a great day, particularly with the lovely weather on Sunday.
We took over $1600 which helps us with our fundraising to sponsor our 16 children. of our members help either by making or growing items for sale or manning the stall on the day. It’s also a great friendship day.
Morning Tea Outings
The third Monday of each month is our Catch-up with a Cuppa day.
Interestingly this little ritual really took off during Covid, when no coffee shops were open and there were no meetings to attend. Our President, who found herself presiding over not much at all, began the amazingly successful Afternoon Teas via Zoom. As soon as our Members were free to meet their friends in person again scheduling regular catch-ups over a cuppa between each Club meeting was a no-brainer.
Our Cuppa Co-ordinators book a different venue in a different area of Geelong each month; sometimes a nursery cafe, perhaps a seaside restaurant or a golf club. Is there downside to such a well attended activity? Yes - some sweet little cafes just aren't large enough.
October 2025 Pamper Packs
For the first half of each year our members purchase toiletries, and meanwhile our sewers make colourful fabric bags. The project comes together in about September when the bags are packed with a selection of essentials and delivered to Meli for distribution to women (and a few men) in need.
The recipients have often had to leave an unsafe environment in a hurry, when toiletries can be frequently left behind. A longstanding initiative by our Club that continues to tug at our heartstrings.
