Greensborough Evening VIEW Club

About

Greensborough Evening VIEW Club was formed in 1993.

Currently, the Club sponsors nine Smith Family Learning for Life students and is actively involved in fundraising activities to raise donations for The Smith Family programs.

Our Club offers fun and friendship and offers a wide variety of events and activities for our members, helping to raise funds for our students.  These include monthly guest speakers, scrabble groups, book club, knitting group, monthly morning teas, day outings and a bi annual weekend away.

We are always open to new members and look forward to introducing you to our Club and all VIEW has to offer so please give Judy a call, and have  chat to find out more.

July 2025 Meeting

Guest Speaker for July was Julie Armstrong, who gave an inspirational talk on Hope in a Suitcase, which empowers the lives of children in out-of-home care.  Julie reminded us that together we can make a difference in the lives of children entering out-of-care, Empowering them with love and self-worth.  In turn, equipping them for the challenging journey ahead, creating a space for resilience and hope for their future.
 
Members were captivated and wanted to know how they could help, and the accompanying photo shows an example of Hope In A Suitcase.

Theatre Outing 2025

Twenty members braved the cold to enjoy a local play at The Heidelberg Theatre.
 
Love Love Love was enjoyed by all and the theatre was lovely and warm.

Birthday Celebrations in June 2025

Hazel, our National Councillor joined in our 32nd birthday celebrations, enlightening Members regarding all the latest news in VIEW.
 
Members enjoyed a two course meal followed by our delicious birthday cake.

June 2025 Outing

Members enjoyed an outing to the Defence Force School of Music, where a variety of music was performed by the Defence Force musicians at the Simpson Barracks, Watsonia.

Theatre Outing in May

Thirty members enjoyed an afternoon at the theatre to see Jesus Christ Superstar.  Many had seen the production many years earlier but this version was very different and enjoyed by all.

Bright Chalet Tour May 2025

Fourty Members and guests had a wonderful 4 days exploring Bright and surrounding towns. The weather was perfect; the Autumn leaves were on show and a fabulous time was had by all.
Towns we visited were Bright, Yackandandah, Beechworth, Wandiligong, Porepunkah and Myrtleford.
Whilst staying at the Bright Chalet we enjoyed full Buffet breakfast and dinner.

Easter 2025 Celebrations in March

Our guest speaker this month was from the North East Link project discussing many aspects of the huge project. 

It was also the month we raffle our monster Easter baskets. Thirty women had the opportunity to win one of our fabulous hampers, thanks to the generosity of our wonderful Members.

Guest speaker, Christine Heyes from The Stroke Foundation, gave an insight into being aware of what we should be doing to help prevent a stroke, and the signs to look for in case we feel we are having a stroke.

February Outing at Melbourne's Princess Theatre

Members headed into Melbourne's Princess Theatre to experience the life story of Tina Turner through her iconic and empowering musical. Words cannot explain how good this show was!

Lunch and Friendship

The 2025 year commenced with a lovely outing in February, when twenty-four Members and three lucky husbands, who can be seen in the accompanying photo, had a very special lunch in the Chloe Room of the Young & Jacksons Hotel, Melbourne.  Following two hours of eating and chatting everybody headed off for a tour of St Paul's Cathedral.

Our guide at St Paul's was excellent, giving us a full insight to the Cathedral.  A most enjoyable day was had by all.

Christmas 2024 Celebrations

Eighty-five Members and friends had a wonderful festive time celebrating Christmas at our December Dinner Meeting.  Waverley, Heidelberg, Banyule and Eltham VIEW Clubs helped to make the start to the festive season fabulous.  The entertaining duo Horizon had members and guests dancing the night away!

A night at the Heidelberg Theatre

Thirty members and partners enjoyed a night at the theatre. Once again the Heidelberg Theatre production did not disappoint.

The production of "An Ideal Husband" was fabulous and enjoyed by all.

Outing to Ballarat in November 2024

Ten Members headed off on the country train to the Springfest Market held at Wendouree Lake, Ballarat.  We left a rainy day in Melbourne to a fine spring day in Wendouree!

A great day was had by all.

Guest Speaker Darren Arnott, (who can be seen in the accompanying photo,) Author of No Regard for the Truth was a speaker that kept the Members interested from the word go.

Who would have thought that we in Victoria had an Italian POW internment camp in Melbourne's outer suburb of Rowville.  No Regard for the Truth: Friendship and kindness. tragedy and injustice.  Read the book to find out more............................

November 2024 Theatre Outing

Twenty-seven Members had a wonderful time enjoying Sister Act at the Regent Theatre, featuring Casey Donovan as the lead with a wonderful cast; they were all fabulous.

A great day was had by all.

Twelve Members recently had a wonderful outing to Her Majesty's Theatre to enjoy Beauty And The Beast.  Everybody enjoyed the show and left the Theatre with a huge smile on their faces.

A lovely way to spend an afternoon.
