October 2025 Birthday Celebrations

It’s been a busy few months for our Club. Lots of fundraising has occurred, including the multitude of stationery items to fill prep packs, many outings have been enjoyed and it was our 38th birthday in October!

We were privileged to welcome National Councillor Hazel and Zone Councillor Carolyn to join in with the celebrations as well as members from other local clubs. After the meeting and the drawing of the numerous raffle prizes, it was left to have fun and enjoy the melodic tones of Aaron who really did sound uncannily like Elvis and Neil Diamond! Our Members sure love to dance!

Our Meeting July 2025

Some members of our Club have been Members for many years. In significant years, members receive a badge from VIEW to mark the occasion. Mary has now joined this special group, having served for thirty years! Congratulations on all your contributions over that time Mary! The other recipient of a long-term badge was member and ex-president Roz, who received her ten-year badge; another member who has given so much to her club.

The speaker at the meeting was Leon Sinnett from Beyond Blue, who shared his personal experience with depression, his road to recovery, the signs that may indicate whether a person is suffering with depression or anxiety and where to obtain support.

The speaker in August is from the local bank who is sharing how to protect ourselves from scams.  All are welcome.

Mary Wins in June 2025

Being the winter months there were a few absentees from the club meeting. Members were either unwell or enjoying northern climates. Despite that, we had a very productive meeting with members using their collective voice and voting on the resolutions.

One of the club’s most popular fundraisers is the raffle. Accompanying photo shows Mary looking quite happy with her prize of a pretty cyclamen.

Next month we are having a speaker from Beyond Blue. All are welcome.

Mothers Day Celebrations 2025

The Autumn months have been very busy for our Members.

In April we enjoyed a winter fashion show and in May we celebrated Mother’s Day. Our National Zone Councillor Hazel Austin, who can be seen in the photo, gave us a presentation of the achievements of VIEW and The Smith Family and we appreciated learning what VIEW and our club had contributed to funds for Learning for Life students and other Smith Family initiatives.

Functions included attending Epping- Plenty Valley VIEW’s birthday, excursions to local cafes and a tour of State Treasury in Melbourne, and our Members who attended can be seen in the accompanying photo.

A highlight was the fundraising morning tea at member Roz’s new home.

March 2025 International Women's Day

Members celebrated International Women’s Day with a visit from a committed, capable and interesting female member of the local police. Acting Snr Sgt Michelle Brown spoke about her journey in becoming a police officer, and entering the academy as a mature recruit. She has progressed through the ranks to her current level as well as being a parent to three children.

Michelle told us of her experiences in the force and how she liked interacting with the public. She was a very appropriate speaker for IWD!

Sgt Jamie Mansfield accompanied Michelle and also answered various questions. He demonstrated the components of his kit, which weighed 11 kilograms! All police officers wear this to protect themselves and of course the public. Jamie spoke briefly about scams, something we’re all concerned about these days.

February 2025 AGM

Hello and welcome to 2025, VIEW’S 65th Blue Sapphire year! What a year to look forward to!

Our club held its first meeting of the year with a buzz of excitement, of members catching up after the long break. We welcomed our Zone Councillor, Carolyn, who conducted the Annual General Meeting, and inducted the new committee.

The committee has hit the ground running with an outing and fundraiser already planned for this month.  Visitors will receive a warm welcome at our next Meeting on March 12th. Wear purple, white and green to celebrate International Women’s Day.
