Celebrating VIEW in 2025

Our Club had a most enjoyable day, celebrating their 16th Birthday along with 65 years of VIEW.

Members had the task of identifying which baby photo belonged to which committee member…..caused a lot of interest, but only succeeded when each committee person involved gave a hint!!!.  And Members were asked to bring a piece of jewellery that had some sentimental meaning. It was most interesting to hear stories, with some of the jewellery going back 140 plus years.

Once again we had a great day, as we usually do when we all get together.

Our Talented Entertainers

Our birthday celebrations commenced with two of our Members, June and Jenny, who can be seen in the accompanying photo, keeping us entertained with a most enjoyable vocal, Crazy, followed by some amusing skits. We are lucky to have such talented ladies as our members.

Inaugural Member Evelyn is 100

A VIP, Evelyn Smith who had turned 100 a week ago, joined us for the morning.  Evelyn was one of the inaugural members, who has continued over the years to support VIEW.

We feel very honoured to enjoy Evelyns company. Even though it's a little harder for her to walk, she is still bright as a button and always has plenty of stories to tell.  Lets hope we can be the same at 100!!!

The lovely Evelyn can be seen in the accompanying photo.

Outing to Mildura Office Works

President Lorraine and Learning for Life student representative, Dee, visited the Mildura Office Works branch to thank them for their support to The Smith Family.   The staff were very pleased to see us and luckily had time to talk and happily had their photo taken.

Their target is $7,800 and at the time of our visit had raised approximately $3,000.  The shop looked great with posters and cut outs of character children spread all around the counter and shop entrance.  It was easy to see they were great supporters of the Smith Family.

We thanked them and they all agreed it was a great cause to support and raise monies for.  Manager, Dale, invited our Club to reach-out during the year if we needed any support or guidance.

Fifteenth Birthday Celebrated in August 2024

Forty-eight Members celebrated our Club's 15th birthday in August, with one special guest, Zone Councilor, Barb Young   The RSL once again served a great meal of roast beef with veg or fish and salad, followed by a ginger fluff cake for dessert.

Our theme was scarves and each table adorned with a lady wearing a scarf.  Fourteen of our inaugural members were with us to enjoy a most memorable day.
Local Blue Illusion, who strongly support VIEW joined us and demonstrated ways of tying a scarf, and two of our Members gave short recitals which caused many laughs.

We all went home tired, but pleased the day was such a success.
