About
With 90 Members our club is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of young Australians in need. We are passionate about giving back. We raise vital funds for The Smith Family and currently sponsor 13 students through their Learning for Life Program. Every third Monday we enjoy a delightful lunch followed by an inspiring speaker.

Meet Our 2026 Committee
May 2026 Fundraiser
Thank you to Shirley and our wonderful band of volunteers who helped at the working bees and manned the Cake Stall in Mt Waverley on 1st May. We raised $1839 .

April 2026 Meeting
Our guest speaker was Brigadier Bob Slater who took us on a journey of The Anzacs and his involvement during the Second World War within his field of Engineering.
Bob's presentation brought back memories of our members' individual family's involvements.
March 2026 Gala
Area VA Gala Luncheon at Heidelberg Golf Club on 25 March
Twelve of our members attended this celebration and manned the registration desk; while Gayle loaned 14 of our club's table centres. One of the past Learning for Life Students spoke to the audience about her journey growing up and the assistance The Smith Family made to her education.
March 2026 Meeting
Guest speakers, Robert Anderson and Chris Miller who are pictured in the accompanying photo, are volunteers from The Golden Days of Radio.
Easter Raffle, also pictured, was organised by Gayle and again presented a wonderful array of raffle prizes to raise $340 towards our 13 Learning for Life Students.
Christmas Celebrations in December 2025
Our giant Christmas Raffle was again co-ordinated by Gayle with an amazing display of prizes.
The entertainment at our December meeting was from Singing Friends.

November 2025 was our Make Bake and Grow Fundraiser
Our annual Make Bake and Grow Auction was held in November when $1714.00 raised with baked goodies selling well

October 2025
Our Sausage Sizzle on 25 October raised an amazing $2,126.08 plus donations of $166.50. Thank you to Leonie for all your hard work in coordinating everything and to all those who worked on the day. Well done Members and husbands!!!
Lions Op Shop in October- we raised $723.75
On 20 October we were entertained by James Wall from Gardenworld in Braeside. James was very entertaining . He taught us a few gardening tricks and handed out some discount cards so that we could visit at our leisure.

September 2025
Our guest speaker in September was Shaun Aisen from Angel Flight Australia.
Dealing with illness can be a difficult and emotional time and it's even more challenging when you live thousands of kilometres away from the treatment you need. Volunteers from Angel Flight Australia coordinate free, non-emergency flights and transfers so people who living remotely across Australia can access non-emergency flights and transfers.
Birthday Celebrations in August 2025
At our 41st Birthday meeting we received a Congratulatory Message and Certificate from our local State Member John Mullahy. We also received a thank you letter from the Victorian State Premier Jacinta Allan.
We had visitors from National Councillor Hazel Austin and 5 other Victorian Zone Councillors.
Our raffle raised $449.47. Entertainment by Alicia O'Brien from The Treblettes.
July 2025
Michael Johnson spoke to our members about his life and passion for bees. He also brought along many items to tempt us to open our purses and take home some "treasures" to share with family".
June 2025
Our June speaker was Chris Hodson (pictured in the centre) from The 1812 Theatre who talked about his involvement with the Theatre and the surrounding community, upcoming shows and how people can be involved as volunteers.
