Waverley VIEW Club

On the 17th September - Our guest speaker was Brian Barnard who served eighteen years with the Victoria Police Dog Squad.   Also, at our September meeting our members donated bikini pants and face washers to Days for Girls.

Our members volunteered their time to work in the Mt Waverley Op Shop from 28 September to 2 October.   All proceeds from this week going to supporting our 13 Learning for Life Students.

Photo shows: Our twins (Judy joined our VIEW Club in 2009 and her sister Gwen joined in 2011 ) celebrated their 90th birthday with their families.

On the 10th of September members enjoyed a visit to Gardenworld in Braeside - Our group met for morning tea and then had an unexpected tour of the grounds from James Wall.   After lunch some members were tempted to a bit of retail therapy to finish off a lovely day out together.

On the 13th our club members manned a stall, pictured with Joanne at the helm, at the Rotary Market in Mt Waverley.  We had a raffle with $187 profit and VIEW brochures available for potential members to read what VIEW is all about and how to get in touch with our Club.

Our Club celebrated our 42nd Birthday with 92 members and visitors from other VIEW Clubs.

The colour theme for our Birthday meeting was orange and black and everyone joined in the spirit and certainly brightened up the room with splashes of orange.

Thank you to Shirley for making our birthday cake, pictured on the left, and to Joanne  for decorating it.  Amazing job everyone.

Our July luncheon included a wonderful Fashion Parade conducted by Fella Hamilton.  Four of our beautiful Members, being, Helen, Joanne, Glenis and Lee, who are pictured left to right, modelled a lovely range of Fella Hamilton garments on offer.

A $25 discount offer was available to all those present with a percentage of sales to be paid back to our club.

On Wednesday 1 July, 29 Members and friends enjoyed High-Tea at Parliament House.  This was followed by a guided tour of Parliament House with Justin, who was an excellent guide and entertained us with his friendly manner and knowledge.

Then on Wednesday 15 July we enjoyed an interesting visit to The Police Museum.

Jason Brack, pictured, from Monash Library enlightened us to the services available at our local library.

During June and July members donated stationery items for distribution by The Smith Family to needy children.

We had a special treat in May.  Jill (our member) introduced us to her nephew Russell McGregor (world renowned Violinist living in Vienna).

Since 1997 Russell has been concertmaster and conductor with the Schonbrunn Palace Orchestra.  Jill delighted us with her presentation of Russell's life - what a delight it was to listen to his music.

Back in August 2025 three of our members were lucky to meet Russell in person and listen to him perform live in Glen Waverley, Victoria.

Thank you to Shirley and our wonderful band of volunteers who helped at the working bees and manned the Cake Stall in Mt Waverley on 1st May.  We raised $1839 .

Our guest speaker was Brigadier Bob Slater who took us on a journey of The Anzacs and his involvement during the Second World War within his field of Engineering.

Bob's presentation brought back memories of our members' individual family's involvements.
