Get Involved
- Volunteer
  As a VIEW member there are many opportunities to volunteer your time and skills to directly help and support The Smith Family and disadvantaged Australian children and their families.
- Fundraise
  VIEW members raise over $1.1 million annually for The Smith Family and sponsor more than 1,650+ Learning for Life students.
- Raise awareness and advocate
  With more than 300 clubs around Australia involving some 14,000 women from all walks of life, the collective voice of VIEW is an important aspect of the organsation's work.
- Sponsor a disadvantaged student
  Learning for Life sponsorship provides disadvantaged students with financial assistance, emotional support and access to learning and educational programs.
- Partner with VIEW
  VIEW is proud to have a wide range of community partners that support our fundraising efforts and the work of The Smith Family. We would like to thank the following companies for their ongoing support.

First Wave VIEW Club

About

First Wave VIEW Club was formed in 2001.

Currently, the Club sponsors twelve Smith Family Learning for Life students and is actively involved in fundraising activities to raise donations for The Smith Family programs.

We are always open to new members, so please get in touch today and come and see what it's all about.

25th Birthday Celebrations 2026 Part 1

First Wave VIEW Club (The First West Australian VIEW Evening Club) celebrated 25years of starting in WA. In July 2001 the VIEW club was inaugurate. The club opened in the same year that The Smith Family came to begin their Leaning for Life programmes in this state. Four Inaugural members still active in the club along with five other members that have been in the club for over 20years.

We had 97 members; friends and other WA VIEW clubs attend to help celebrate this event at the Woodvale Tavern in a black and silver theme. Our guests were TSF`s Julie Walker, Child and Parent Centre Manager Julie McKay, National VIEW Councillor Kris Behets, Zone Councillors Rena O`Sullivan, Michelle McGrath and the main keynote speaker Shadow Minster for Education Early Childhood and Disability Service Liam Staltari MLA.

The four inaugural members Marlene, Monica, Joan and Lorraine along with Smith Families Julie Walker were invited to cut the birthday cake while Rennie played the piano accordion and we sung Happy Birthday. The lovely fruit cake was made and decorated for the club by one of our own members, Merrilee Shepherd.

25th Birthday Celebrations 2026 Part 2

After lunch and all the formalities had finished the ladies were entertained by Rennie Chaperon (member’s husband) along with six talented members who had wrote a VIEW song. We then had sing along with a few old favourites.

After 25 years we all are still having a great time and just as passionate with the fundraising to help the disadvantaged through education.

International Women's Day 2026

First Wave VIEW Club hosted their 10th IWD on 5th March at the MAAC (Marmion Angling & Aquatic Club). The weather was perfect and the amazing ocean view was enjoyed by 132 ladies. (78 of those were non-VIEW ladies).

We were joined by guest speakers TSF Julie Walker and Susan Hampton; together they enlighten the room about LFS. Michelle Fyfe APM (Former Deputy Commissioner of WA Police) was the keynote speaker. Michelle told us about her time in the police force and had the ladies captivated by her stories. Michelle has served the community in a variety of leadership roles over a career spanning close to 40 years

Other guests invited to the day, MLA for Kingsley Jessica Stojkovski and Real Estate Agent Carole Saville who are both keen sponsors to the club. It`s the Club`s main fundraising function and as you can imagine the efforts by the IWD committee is huge.
