Meet a member: skilled and “crafty” Catherine Smith

MCVC is fortunate to have many skilled and “crafty” ladies amongst their membership. One of these ladies is Catherine Smith. Some time ago Catherine offered to set up a jewellery table to sell new and used items of jewellery at the monthly lunch with all proceeds going to The Smith Family. This has been a roaring success, and the ladies look forward to seeing what Catherine has on offer.

Catherine also puts on high teas at her home with the profits going to The Smith Family.

Melville City VIEW Club Mystery Bus Tour

Several years ago, one of our founding members, Helen Reynolds, decided to hold a mystery bus tour. A bus was hired from the local Council, and the invite was circulated to the members. There was a small charge to members for the bus and morning tea, and lunch was at member’s cost. This proved to be very successful which led to Helen organising them several time a year. They have proven so popular that we need to hire two buses for the day.

We leave from a designated spot around 9.30am and return around 3.30pm the same day. Along the way members are trying to guess where the destination will be. We generally stop for morning tea and the final stop is for lunch. We have visited a range of places in and around Perth such as King’s Park, Yanchep National Park, historical Pinjarra and many others.

The trips are now organised by a MCC member, Marion, along with her two trusty sidekicks, Bev and Wendy. They reconnoitre venues, often from ideas from members and book for morning tea and lunch. We have around 25 members attending and when the call goes out that there’s going to be a mystery bus tour, it’s first in best dressed!

Making a Difference and "Helen Reynolds"

At the AGM, Melville City VIEW Club were proud to present several Awards to members.

Photos are the Making A Difference worthy recipients with their sponsors. Hazel nominated by Julie; and Bev nominated by Wendy.

In the third photo the Helen Reynolds Award (one of the Melville City VIEW Club founders) is being presented to Pam by Helen’s son, Bruce.

This is an annual Award initiated by the Club in honour of Helen, to a member, who has given service over and above the norm. Pam is the Melville City VIEW Club secretary.
