A fantastic new program by Optus

The Smith Family partnering with Optus to bring you free data!

The Smith Family partnering with Optus to bring you free data!

The Smith Family is partnering with Optus on an exciting project called Donate Your Data.

Donate Your Data is an Australian first that we are pleased to offer exclusively to our Learning for Life families.

What is Donate Your Data?

Optus will be inviting their Prepaid Mobile customers on selected plans to donate their unused data each month to share with Learning for Life students and families.

All of the donated data will be collected, doubled by Optus and then shared among eligible Learning for Life students and families.

Once you join the program, the donated data will be automatically loaded onto your mobile plan. Yes, it’s that easy.

Want to join the program? Simply SMS “THANKS” to 7777 to join. Optus will respond to confirm you are on the program.

Free data sounds great! How do I register?

  1. You must have received an SMS invitation from us
  2. Make sure you’ve read and agree with the Terms of Use
  3. SMS the words “THANKS” to 7777
  4. Optus will send you a message confirming your registration
  5. Then wait to hear about how much free data you will receive each month (starting from March 1st)

How much data will I get?

Each month the amount will vary depending on how much is donated. The data will be credited to your account at the start of the month (the exact day may vary) and you will receive an SMS from Optus letting you know how much data has been added to your account. You’ll then have 28 days to use it.

How long will the program run?

Thanks to our corporate partner Optus, this is an ongoing program. However we will let you know if this changes.

What if I want to leave the program?

If you change your mind after you join the program, you can withdraw, and you will stop receiving free data.

Important notes about Donate Your Data:

Donate Your Data will involve a few things:

  • Your existing Optus SIM will automatically be loaded with donated data once a month as long as your SIM continues to be active and you stay on an eligible Optus prepaid plan
  • The amount of free data you receive will vary depending on how much data is donated each month
  • During the program, you can continue to purchase credit as you normally would
  • For the duration of the program, you are not able to transfer your SIM to anyone else
  • By agreeing to receive free data on the Donate Your Data program you will note that you are also agreeing to not access anything illegal or inappropriate. If you do, Optus and The Smith Family may ask you to exit the program*.
  • If you are under 18 years of age, you must obtain your parents or carers permission to participate

* For a classification of illegal or inappropriate material please go to this website - Australian Government Info on Prohibited Offensive and Illegal Content.

Can I tell other people about getting free data?

This program is currently open to eligible Optus Prepaid mobile customers who are part of our Learning for Life ‘family’ and whose mobile number we currently have in our database.

If someone you know has not received an invitation there may be a couple of reasons for that. Please check out the FAQs page.
