One-day Support Volunteer, Children's Week Event (25CFC_EventSup_2176) Fairfield, NSW

Support Volunteers for this event will help with the smooth running of the 2025 Fairfield Children's Week Event. During this one-day event, volunteers will assist with set-up/pack-down of activities as well as activity supervision, queue control and general assistance for patrons.

Through this rewarding one-day event on Tuesday 30th September, support volunteers provide critical direct support for the educational and social development of young Australians in need so they can succeed at school and create better futures for themselves. 

This role allows volunteers to use and enhance their communication, interpersonal and intercultural communication skills. Positive impacts on the volunteer will include: satisfaction in giving back to the community, skill development, social interaction, increased awareness of community engagement and participation in a fun day out.

Before the event, the Communities for Children Team will hold a volunteer briefing. This briefing will cover the purpose of the event, the schedule for the day, key contacts for volunteers, WHS and child safeguarding considerations. 

Key tasks:

Support with the smooth running of a community event for children and families.

This may include providing support with:

  • Support with logistical administrative duties
  • Supervising arts and crafts activities for children
  • Supervision of outdoor play
  • Helping with public queue control
  • Supervising food stalls
  • Ushering guests and performers
  • Providing general assistance for the public
  • Assisting with clean-up throughout the day
  • Some tasks may involve some lifting (manual handling)

Competencies / Desirable skills:

  • Experience working with people from diverse culturally and linguistic backgrounds
  • Some tasks may involve skills in arts or crafts
  • Experience working with children is favourable but not required
  • Ability to provide clear and concise directions under guidance from the Volunteer Manager

  • Child Protection Check - Valid NSW WWCC (Working with Children Check)
