Location: Fairfield Showgrounds - 443 Smithfield Road, Prairiewood NSW 2176
Position Type: One-day Support Volunteer, Children's Week Event (25CFC_EventSup_2176) NSW
Time Commitment: One-day Event Tuesday 30th September. 1hr Volunteer briefing a week prior to the event 5hrs-9hrs volunteering hours on the day. (5hrs per shift with the option to take on two shifts; 10am-2pm and 2pm-6pm).

Through this rewarding one-day event on Tuesday 30th September, support volunteers provide critical direct support for the educational and social development of young Australians in need so they can succeed at school and create better futures for themselves.

Volunteers are likely to experience a sense of satisfaction in giving back to the community, skill development, social interaction, increased awareness of community engagement and participation in a fun day out for patrons.

Before the event, the Communities for Children Team will hold a volunteer briefing. This briefing will cover the purpose of the event, the schedule for the day, key contacts for volunteers, WHS and child safeguarding considerations.

Key tasks:

This may include providing support with:

Support with logistical administrative duties
Supervising arts and crafts activities for children
Supervision of outdoor play
Helping with public queue control
Supervising food stalls
Ushering guests and performers
Providing general assistance for the public
Assisting with clean-up throughout the day
Some tasks may involve some lifting (manual handling)

Competencies / Desirable skills:

Experience working with people from diverse culturally and linguistic backgrounds
Some tasks may involve skills in arts or crafts
Experience working with children is favourable but not required
Ability to provide clear and concise directions under guidance from the Volunteer Manager
