Health Care and Pensioner Concession Cards
When you join the Learning for Life program, we ask for a copy of your Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card.
We need your concession card to:
- Confirm income eligibility: this is a key requirement for joining the Learning for Life program.
- Verify your identity: these cards help us confirm who you are.
- Prove the child or children are in your care: they also help us verify that the child or children are in your care, proving parental responsibility.
We will ask to see your concession card:
- At the start: We need a copy of your card when you first join the program.
- Adding a child: If you want to add another child to the program, we'll ask for your card again to confirm the child's eligibility.
- Change of custody: If there's a change in custody, the card helps us verify the new guardian's responsibility.
What if you don’t have your concession card anymore?
If you had a Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card when you joined but no longer have it and want to add more children, you can use your Medicare card to confirm the child’s eligibility.
Updating your concession card details
You can review and update your Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card at any time on My Smith Family. However, as this is not a program requirement, you will not receive any communications reminding you to do so.
Important
We do not store copies of your Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card in our systems. They are used only to confirm the necessary information and are then discarded to protect your privacy.
We hope this information helps you understand why we need these documents and how they are used.
