Thank you for supporting the school journey for so many

15 November 2024
With the 2024 school year coming to a close, we visited a Learning Club to hear directly from the students your support helps.

While we were there, we shared messages of encouragement sent from generous supporters like you. The response from students will warm your heart.

Supporters like you make an impact you might not always see. But in this video, you’ll hear that, with your support, students build confidence in their own abilities to achieve at school and reach their dreams.

And these students want to share a HUGE “thank you!” Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support this year.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support this year. All students need to develop core academic skills so they can participate fully in the classroom.

But 2024 was a year where the cost-of-living was high for many families and the barriers to education grew even bigger. This increases the risk of children and young people falling behind at school. You showed up in a big way to help remove the barriers that poverty creates.
Your support helped 178,430 Australian students access our out-of-school educational programs this year. Those programs help provide targeted support that begins early in a child’s life and continues for the whole school journey.

Learning Clubs

At Learning Clubs, trained volunteers guide students through activities that allow them to develop their core academic skills, such as literacy and numeracy. This helps students catch up and keep up in the classroom so they can participate more fully in their education

Passport

The transition from primary to high school is a big one for all students. Many need extra support to adjust. Living with poverty can put young people at a higher risk of disengaging with their education during this major change. This year, your support made it smoother for many. You provided students with access to educational programs like Passport.

Passport provides the opportunity to increase skills and knowledge before starting high school. Students learn what to expect, such as managing time and bigger workloads.

iTrack

Thank you for also supporting young people continuing to higher education. Your support connected students to tailored help to continue their studies. Without access to positive role models and mentors, many disadvantaged students lack the chance to build career goals and learn how to reach them.

Through our mentoring program iTrack, students connect with people from outside of their networks. With advice and encouragement from mentors, students build goals for careers. They’re more likely to stay engaged with school, finish and go on to further education.

81%

of students attending Learning Club saying it helped them do better in the classroom.

80%

reporting Passport helped them learn skills to assist them in high school.

80%

said the program improved their knowledge of further education and career options.
Behind all these stats and facts is a huge number of Australian children and young people harnessing the power of education to change their worlds. Thank you so much for being a part of this story. Thank you for all your support along these students’ educational journeys, and for being in their corners helping them to unlock their belief in themselves to achieve far beyond their dreams.
