  Our work engages Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in learning through education, life skills and role models, promoting culturally responsive practice.

Thank you for an amazing year of student success

School’s almost out – it’s time to celebrate everything our students achieved this year!

It’s been an amazing year for so many students – thanks to the incredible support of people like you. Because of your generosity, thousands of children across Australia have been able to attend our community-based Learning Clubs this year.

These are known for being a supportive learning environment within the local community, where children can get help from experienced volunteers to build their confidence, skills and keep up with schoolwork.

But Learning Clubs are so much more than a place to study.

As Learning Club volunteer Baron says, “The best part of Learning Club is bringing kids together after a tough day at school. We give them relief and fun through homework help, arts and crafts, and other special projects that are interesting to them. It's all about open minds and enjoyment!"

The support and encouragement students get from Learning Club volunteers helps to strengthen core skills like numeracy and literacy so students can catch up and keep up at school. In fact, as many as 82% of participants say that Learning Clubs help them do better in class.

When you’ve got enough people that believe in you on a regular basis, you start to believe in yourself.

Then there’s the boost to their self-belief – demonstrated perfectly by these words from Learning Club student Grace, “Going to Learning Clubs has helped me speak up when I need to and not be shy. I feel way more confident now.”

Confidence is such a powerful enabler. Anything is possible when a child believes in themself and knows others believe in them too. That’s how every child deserves to feel as they end this school year and start the next.
